Beating around the bush : Dr. VG (Age 40 +)asked me this question. I had a look and found a rootstump. It has to be removed. Even if there isn't any pain , a root stump should be removed. These small pieces of the tooth can be removed painlessly.
Special consideration - In a child , a root stump may be preserved to maintain space in the arch/mouth. ( A dentist will need to decide this treatment )
